Notes from 2019 March 6 meeting about the Live Oak Park Community Center building improvements:

The community center was built in 1956 by Robert Ratcliff. The building is of historical interest but not landmarked. (However, Landmarks commission did provide input.) Improvements include seismic retrofitting, electrical updates, and ceiling fans. The Social Hall floor will be preserved and refinished. The theater work will be limited to seismic retrofitting, accessibility, and the addition of a nearby restroom. Two trees next to the front entrance of the building will need to be removed, but there are no landscaping design changes. Even though there is currently no funding for solar panels, structural engineers will be evaluating the feasibility of adding panels on the roof. The work will take about 12 months, starting from mid April. Bidding will go out in June. Construction will start in August. Some programs will be moved to other City locations. The Live Oak Community Center is expected to reopen August 2020. For more information, see https://www.cityofberkeley.info/t1liveoakproject/ or contact Taylor Lancelot (Assistant Civil Engineer, City of Berkeley - Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront).

2016 Sep 21 was the LOCCNA District 5 Candidates Forum.
