The following is from Councilmember Susan Wengraf's Newsletter #60, September, 2017:
Wildlife Proliferation
Remember wildlife do not want to be around humans. They do so when their habitat has been encroached upon and they need to find food or water.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife offers some tips for keeping wildlife away from your home:
Keep garbage in tightly closed containers that can't be tipped over.
Do not feed cats and/or dogs outside.
Remove sources of water.
Pick up fallen fruit and cover compost piles. Tell your neighbors to do the same.
Young children and pets should be attended when outside. Bring pets in between dusk and dawn.
Additionally, mountain lions' preferred food is deer. Don't feed deer, it will attract mountain lions. Deer-proof your landscape by including plants that deer don't like to eat.

We have had a few calls from constituents who have encountered wildlife in their yards including foxes, coyotes, and one mountain lion.
Stay safe.
