Dear Mayor Dean and Berkeley City Councilmembers,

Friends of Gateway Valley are opposed to a project that destroys wildlife habitat and has adverse effects on creeks. We note that the development proposed by Beth El Synagogue and School currently has a parking lot and roadway right in the Codornices Creek corridor. This constitutes significant destruction of wildlife habitat and precious urban creek environment. We strongly urge you to deny the permit approved by the Berkeley Zoning Adjustments Board on March 8, and that you encourage the synagogue to redesign their project in such a way the leaves the entire Codornices Creek corridor and the zone between the creek and Berryman Path free of buildings, parking lots, driveways, or roadways. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Laurie Brown
